In May 2019, Memphis will celebrate its bicentennial. As the city prepares for a month of festivities, we’re planning celebrations as well because, this year, Tioga turns 10! We’re grateful to the Mid-South community for allowing us to pursue our passions and work to keep the environment and people safe and healthy.
Tioga team members spend many workdays outside, but on weekends, you won’t find us hibernating indoors! Our team enjoys the outdoors as much as possible. To celebrate both our and Memphis’ milestones, we’d like to share our reasons why we love the Bluff City and our favorite outdoor activities, many of which are unique to anywhere else.

Garrison Barnes
Environmental scientist
“I have been enjoying the warmer weather May brings with various activities outside, whether it be hanging out at local establishments like Loflin Yard, Railgarten or Wiseacre Brewery, supporting local distilleries by attending the Spirits and Soul Festival last month, or by cheering on Memphis 901 FC at AutoZone Park.”
Phil Gardner
Environmental specialist
“My favorite outdoor activity is to hunt and fish.”
Will Gray
Environmental scientist
“I enjoy pond-hopping around Memphis to do some bass fishing. The Wolf River Greenway expansions have given access to some great bodies of water!”
Luke Hall
Geologist
“To be honest, I really enjoy doing anything and everything outside!”
Shawn Mullins
Project coordinator
“Any chance I get, I like to be in my backyard with my dogs. The occasional outdoor fieldwork isn’t bad either.”
Larkin Myers
Vice president
“I love when everyone starts walking around our neighborhood, eating on patios and going to festivals. The spring weather in May is wonderful for any outdoor activity.”
