DO AIR PURIFIERS REALLY WORK?
When people suspect an indoor air quality problem, they often purchase an air purifier. It sounds like a good idea – it should purify the air in your home or business creating a higher quality of indoor air. Well, that is partially true.
Many air purifiers use an electrostatic precipitator to remove pollutant particles. This process does remove potential pollutant particles, but it also produces ozone as a byproduct. Increasing the volume of ozone within your home can make asthma worse and can affect your ability to fight respiratory infections.
There are also ozone generators marketed for air purification. We believe you will actually be exacerbating your situation if you install one.
