LEAD BASED PAINT NOTIFICATIONS
Recently, the Chicago Department of Health issued lead abatement notices for fourteen properties owned by a number of affiliated companies. The companies were found to be in violation of the Residential Lead Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act after it was discovered that the companies did not properly notify tenants that pre-1978 homes might contain lead-based paint. A settlement with HUD and the EPA will require the companies to make improvements in 463 housing units throughout 14 buildings. The work is estimated to cost over $2 million.
