Applications for a grant-funded Phase I Assessment are still being accepted by the Wolf River Brownfield Council.  The Shelby County Brownfields Council will meet again on Thursday, November 10th at 5:30 p.m.

According to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, brownfields are “abandoned or underutilized properties, including but not limited to industrial and commercial facilities, where redevelopment or expansion may be complicated by possible environmental contamination (real or perceived).”

The EPA provided a grant to Shelby County to assist in assessment of the Wolf River Corridor.  The goal is to assess, safely clean and sustainably reuse brownfields.  If you think your property may be eligible for funding, you should submit the application to Felicia Harris, Brownfield Council Coordinator.  She can be reached at felicia.harris [at] memphistn [dot] gov" title="felicia.harris [at] memphistn [dot] gov">felicia.harris [at] memphistn [dot] gov.
