UST Removal & Closure
In July 2015, during construction of a parking lot for a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, an unregistered underground storage tank was uncovered by a contractor. Tioga was contacted by hospital staff to assist in the proper documentation and removal of the tank.
Following Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Division of Underground Storage Tank guidelines, Tioga personnel registered the tanks and applied for permanent closure by removal. On Aug. 12, 2015, during excavation of the 1,000-gallon storage tank initially identified, a second 500-gallon tank was identified at the property. Tioga supervised the excavation and removal of both tanks.
After tank removal, Tioga personnel took soil samples for laboratory analysis per TDEC guidelines, prepared a Permanent Closure Report for TDEC and supervised backfill of the former tankpit. The site was granted uncontaminated permanent closure by TDEC.
